MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN
Graduate course of Mechanical Engineering, 1° anno.
SCOPE
The objective of the course is to provide the fundamentals of modelling and design of simple mechanical components.
CONTENTS
Intoduction to failure modes and mechanisms. Design-against-failure: understanding the mechanisms that control and cause failure in metals and alloys. Failure theories. Stress and strain controlled fatigue. Brittle fracture: introduction to fracture mechanics. Ductile fracture: plastic collapse and creep. Introduction to computer aided design (CAD).
EXAM PROCEDURE
Written test.
